This quilted basket is decorated with hand embroidery inspired by the traditional Russian painting (Permogorskaya painting). It depicts the mythical bird Sirin – placed in a circle, it is an amulet and a wish for good luck.

If you don’t know how to embroider, you can use a pretty fabric panel or sew the whole box out of the same fabric.

Height 25.5 cm (10 inches). Diameter 24 cm (about 9 1/2 inches) Embroidery diameter 17 cm (about 6 3/4 inches).

This tutorial does not include sewing and quilting tutorials. This tutorial contains patterns and a description of the work process with photos. You need to have basic sewing fnd quilting skills.

There are instructions on how to calculate any round box size you need.

Materials and supplies:

*Sewing machine;

*Scissors;

*Sewing thread;

*Hand embroidery or fabric panel;

*Fabric for the top (I used 100% cotton);

*Quilt filler (I used a synthetic winterizer 100 g/m2 and automotive foam rubber 5 mm);

*Fabric for the back of the quilt (I used thick satin fabric);

*Pins;

*Zipper;

*Bias tape maker to make the bias tape 12 or 18 mm wide; patchwork cutting mat and rotary cutter. If you don’t have these tools, you can do without them. Then you need to cut the fabric with scissors to make the bias tape, and do everything by hand;

*Quilting foot;

 *Zipper foot.
