Cable Hat Knitting Pattern by Bulky Yarn Knit Winter Beanie with Over Brim 1 Adult Medium Size
It`s an awesome cable hat knitting pattern to made for this winter in bulky (or aran) weight yarn. This pattern is perfect for Intermediate knitters who are comfortable with cable stitches patterns. “More Cables Hat” is worked bottom up, beginning in the ribbing 2 x 2 and then the body is worked in a cable stitch pattern. The pattern includes 1 adult sizes, but two versions of the hat. One with a short brim, and one with a long brim.
NOTES:
- The hat is seamless and worked in the round.
- Skill Level: Intermediate.
- The pattern includes both written instructions and charts.

- Skills: basic knitting skills (knit, purl, ssk, k2tog, p2tog, pfb, cables), working in the round, reading charts or working with written instructions.
SIZE:
- M – middle teen/adult size, head circumference 22-23’’ (56-58 cm).
- The total height of the hats are 9’’ (23 cm)-12’’ (31 cm) after blocking.
Yarn:
You will need 85-130 gr Bulky or Aran weight yarn if the knitting gauge of the yarn is 18 stitches per 4 inches/10 cm. It’s not necessary to use only natural fibre yarn for this project. You can also use blends (wool blends, alpaca blends, etc.). Final yardage: 139.4 yds (127.5 m) – 184.6 yds (168.7 m).
Needles:
- 16’’ (40 cm) US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle for ribbing.
- 16’’ (40 cm) US 8 (5 mm) circular needle for body and needles for small circumference at crown (set of dpns).
- Check your gauge and adjust needle size(s) accordingly if necessary.
Notions: stitch markers, cable needles, row counter (optional), tapestry needle or crochet hook for weaving in the ends.
