Elephant toy knitting pattern allows you to create your own soft friend. This little elephant is very nice and comfortable to hold in the hands.

Elephant in a dress
Knitting method – there are two patterns for the elephant: knitting “in the round” on DPNS and knitting “back and forth” using straight knitting needles
Knitting method for the dress: dress is knitted on the straight knitting needles

Skills required: Cast on/Cast off/ Knit/ Purl/ Increase/ Decrease
{Finished size} – length of the elephant – approx. 20 cm (8”)
{Materials}
I use two threads (Brand Drops) for knitting the elephant and the clothes at the same time:
– the main thread is alpaca (or alpaca + wool) – 50g/170 m (Sport, 12 wpi)
– an additional thread is mohair and silk (“Drops Kid-Silk”) – 25g/210 m (Lace)
Toy stuffing – washable polyester (approx. 30 g)
Two black round loop backed eyes (diameter is approx. 6 mm)
White embroidery thread for the eyes
{Equipment}
One pair of 2.75 mm straight knitting needles (UK12/US2)
2.75 mm circular knitting needles for the dress (UK12/US2) – it is more convenient to use it instead of straight knitting needles
2 Double-Pointed Needles (DPNS) 2.75mm (UK12/US2)
Crochet hook 1.6-2.0 mm (UK1/US1) for the buttonholes and crochet the edges of the ears
Plastic-headed pins
A Tapestry needle with a rounded point for sewing up the pieces (length is approx. 5 cm)
A Tapestry needle for attaching the eyes (length is approx. 8-9 cm)
