When I see a plane that has recently taken off, I think of flamingos. These birds can fly but need a run-up to get off the ground, just like a plane.
I have not painted pink flamingos in this watercolor painting but their Caribbean counterparts. Flamingos that live on the Caribbean islands have brighter, redder plumage. And, of course, flamingos look even more colorful in the sunset. Also, these beautiful birds remind me of a peony flower. And just like peonies, flamingos can be delicate pink and bright red.
