About this item

In 2000, the family of the last Russian tsar Nicholas ll was canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church as passion-bearers, that is, those who endured torment and accepted death with Christian meekness and non-resistance. The icon of the Romanov family reflects the martyrdom of the royal family, committed in the name of peace on Russian soil and the inviolability of the Orthodox foundations of the Russian state.

The Russian Orthodox Church has established two days of veneration of the Romanov Passion–Bearers icon: July 4/17 – the day of the death of the royal family and January 25/ February 7 - the celebration of the Council of New Martyrs who Suffered for the Faith of Christ after the revolution of 1917.
How does the icon of the Romanov royal family help
The icon of the Romanov Passion-Bearers embodies the light of faith in Christ, which overcomes any evil. Before the icon, they pray for the protection of Russia from external and internal enemies, for the strengthening of our statehood and its Christian foundations, for the strengthening of patriotic feelings of Russian people.

In the royal family, the Christian precepts of piety, mutual respect, meekness and humility were strictly observed. Therefore, in everyday life, the icon helps in strengthening family ties, establishing pious relationships between family members: spouses, parents and children. Remembering the miraculous healings that occur from the myrrh-streaming of the icon, she is asked to get rid of diseases. In addition, each of the august Great Martyrs is the patron saint of those who are baptized in his name.
