Pieces of bark of various shapes passing through a sieve with holes of 7 mm. The color is light brown, light gray, silver or yellowish brown. The smell is weak, peculiar, intensifying when the bark is wetted with water. The taste of water extraction is strongly astringent.

Pharmacodynamics
Decoction of oak bark has astringent, anti-inflammatory effect due to the presence of tannins.
Indications
Decoction of oak bark is used as an astringent and anti-inflammatory agent for rinsing in inflammatory diseases of the mucous membrane of the oral cavity, pharynx, pharynx; gingivitis, stomatitis.

Method of administration and dosage
About 20 g (2-3 tablespoons) of oak bark is placed in an enameled dish, 200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water is poured, covered with a lid and insisted on a boiling water bath for 30 minutes, then filtered, without cooling, through a double layer of gauze, the remaining raw materials are squeezed out. The volume of the resulting broth is brought to 200 ml with boiled water .
Apply a decoction for rinsing 6-8 times a day.
Before use, the broth must be shaken.
Side effects
With prolonged use of decoction of oak bark for mouthwash, in some cases there is a decrease in sense of smell and taste sensations. Allergic reactions are possible.
