A fabulous, traditional Russian-Orthodox Byzantine icon in canonical iconographic style. Image of the icon is made in high-quality polygraphic with double layers of metallographic printing. It is pasted to the wood or plywood plate basis.Protection is the translation of the Russian word Pokrov. In this icon, the Mother of God is seen as the protector and intercessor of all mankind. 

Many Eastern prayers to the Theotokos speak of her Protection, or Protecting Veil (Pokrov). In this icon, it is depicted literally—her veil being a shield against all the attacks of evil. The depiction of the Bodiless Angels surrounding her is meant to teach us how powerful her protecting intercessions are for us. The Archangels and Guardian Angels stand by to assist us in our times of need as we live our lives in Christ.

The icon was consecrated by the provost of the Russian Orthodox church in Moscow.
