One of the unusual representatives of mid-late dark varieties of tomatoes is the Black Prince with a growing season of 115 to 125 days. Plant height from 120 to 150 cm with rounded, rather large, slightly ribbed fruits, intended for growing both in open soils and under special film or glass coverings. 100-300-gram fleshy fruit has a burgundy-black skin and excellent taste of reddish flesh. The variety is ideal for fresh consumption. A native of China, obtained by crossing, it is popular among gardeners due to its original color and pleasant taste, as well as beneficial properties for the skin, heart, and immune system. These tomatoes are not demanding to care for, they prefer sunny areas.
Sowing. Tomato seeds do not require pretreatment, but if they are soaked in warm water for 12 hours, they will germinate more quickly. Tomatoes are very demanding on the soil. For early varieties, light, warm and permeable soils are suitable, for later varieties, heavier soils and also permeable. In addition, the soil must be fertile. The need for nutrients at an early age is small, but increases sharply during fruiting. Tomatoes love heat. For germination of tomato seeds, a temperature of 18-22 ° C is required. At low temperatures, they do not germinate, and at high temperatures, they develop worse. Therefore, seeds are sown in greenhouses, mini-greenhouses, hotbeds, or in seedling trays in the room. The optimal period for sowing: early or mid-February for early tomato production (seedlings are dived), mid-March for medium-early production (seedlings are not dived) and late May is for late production (seedlings are not dived). Seeds are sown in rows. Seeding rate for unpicked seedlings - no more than 2 g / m², for duck seedlings - 2-3 g / m² each
