VINTAGE OIL PAINTING ON CANVAS

AUTHOR: Soviet Ukraine artist Ivan Ivanovich Loboda.
TITLE: "Portrait of a pilot-instructor Radomakin". This painting was painted in 1988.
MATERIALS: oil, canvas, framed
MEASURES:
120 cm H x 100 cm W (47.2 x 39.4 inch) - size including the frame,
100 cm H x 80 cm W (39.4 x 31.5 inch) - size the painting without the frame.

CONDITION: good vintage condition.

ABOUT AUTHOR:

Ivan Ivanovich Loboda was a Ukrainian painter born on July 5, 1926, in the village of Mali Krynky, Kremenchuk district, Poltava province, now Veliki Krynky, Globin district, Poltava region. He was the son of T. Loboda and a participant in World War II. He graduated from the Kyiv Art Institute in 1957, where he was taught by M. Ivanov, V. Puzyrkov, and O. Shovkunenko. Loboda was a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1962 and was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR in 1976. He participated in regional, all-Ukrainian, all-Union, and international art exhibitions since 1947. Loboda’s works include portraits, landscapes, and paintings on historical, battle, and everyday life themes in a realistic style. His works reflect the customs and way of life of the inhabitants of the Carpathian region. Some of his paintings are preserved in the Ivano-Frankivsk Museum of Art.

Loboda created several notable works throughout his career, including “Kosmatski Kilimarnitsi” (1960), “Vivchari” (1963), “Hora Blyznytsya” (1968), “Hutsul Wedding” (1970), “O. Dovbush” (1972), “Trudivnyky Polonyn” (1975), “Cosmonaut A. Nikolaev” (1984), “Cosmonaut H. Berehovyi” (1985), “Cosmonaut P. Klymuk” (1986), “Shevchenko over the Dnipro” (1987), “Hutsul Kilimarnitsi” (1993), “Wedding Procession,” triptych “B. Khmelnytsky” (all - 1995), “O. Dovbush with Opryshky,” and “T. Shevchenko” (both - 1996). He also created the cycles “Stars of Prykarpattia” (1982-85) and “Hutsul Wedding” (1985-93).
