History reference: Alexey Arkhipovich Leonov – Soviet astronaut No.11

In the childhood Alexey Arkhipovich was fond of painting. He saw this world in own way and has painted more than 200 pictures and 5 art albums among which there are space landscapes, a fantasy, terrestrial landscapes, portraits of friends (a watercolor, oil, the Dutch gouache). A.A. Leonov together with the artist-fantast Andrey Sokolov has created a series of stamps. The tandem debut in philately has taken place in March, 1967 when artists have executed the series from three brands devoted to Day of astronautics.

Besides interest in painting Alexey Arkhipovich is the author of books and monographs. Are the most known: "The pedestrian of space" (1967), "Solar wind" (1969), "I leave in an outer space" (1970), "Perception of space and time in space" (Leonov, Lebedev; 1966), "Features of psychological training of astronauts" (Leonov, Lebedev; 1967).
