In 1970s rural South Korea, young San is ostracized by her community. She befriends a girl named Namae, but after a moment of physical intimacy in a minari field, Namae violently rejects her, leaving San isolated and conflicted.

Years later, at 22, San works in a flower shop, surrounded by a mute owner, a fellow florist, and a range of customers, including a predatory businessman and a photographer she becomes obsessed with. Despite her new life, San remains haunted by her past encounter with Namae.s
