Handmade set of wooden measuring spoons from natural birch wood

This set of wooden scoops are carved of pieces of rare wood of spalted birch.

From time immemorial, people have used birch wood to make spoons and dishes for food.
And this is not for nothing.
Even in Celtic mythology, the birch tree symbolized renewal and purification.
Bundles of birch twigs are still used to exorcise spirits.
This is the use of birch brooms in baths or brooms for cleaning the house.
Birch is also used as a symbol of love and fertility.
In Scottish folklore, a barren cow was grazed with a birch stick in order for it to give offspring.

These mini measuring scoops are not only beautiful but also functional, you can use it for measuring out coffee, sugar, salt or spices in your kitchen.
The lenght of small scoop is 4", it holds about 0.5 tsp of ground coffee.
The lenght of middle one is 5", it holds about 1 tsp of ground coffee.
The lenght of big one is 6", it holds about 1.5 tsp of ground coffee.

They have strong and very comfortable handles, decorated on each side with chipcarving pattern.

The surface of the wooden scoops is perfectly polished, this eliminates the raising of the pile when wet.
To protect against moisture, wooden scoops are oiled several times with Belinka oil (food contact) based on natural ingredients and in the final were covered with mastic of linseed oil, beeswax and Carnauba wax.

These scoops are useful in everyday life or can be used as eco friendly gift for your friend.
In my work I use an axe and knives, no electric tools.
To make these wooden coffee scoops I used simple hand tools: hacksaw, axe, knives, and gouges.
