Saint George the Dragon Slayer Damascus Steel Sword - Medieval Inspired Collectible Decorative Replica with Leather Sheath

Story of Sword

There is no doubt that you are in for a treat if you have never heard the Legend of Saint George and the Dragon before. A version of this legend tells the story that there used to be a town called Silene, which had a large pond the size of a lake, on the shores of which dwelt a plague-bearing dragon who poisoned all the land around it.

As a means of appeasing the dragon, the people of Silene would feed it two sheep every day in order to appease it. When the sheep failed, they used their children as sacrifice, chosen by lottery. It happened that the lot fell on the king's daughter, who is called Sabra in some versions of the story.

The king, distraught with grief, told the people that they could have all of his gold and silver, and half of his kingdom, if his daughter was spared; however, the people declined. In order to feed the dragon, the daughter was sent out to the lake dressed as a bride, to be fed to the dragon. In the course of his ride, Saint-George happened to pass the lake by chance. There was trembling in the princess's eyes, and she wanted to send him away, but George refused to leave. As they were talking, the dragon reared its head from the water and reared out of the water.

The blade of this sword is constructed from a blend of 1095 and 15N20 steel that has been folded over at least 400-520 times to create pattern welded Damascus steel, and has an HRC of 58-60. The cross-guard features ornate medieval symbols with golden hand painted accents. The handle is wooden with a decorative spacer and at the top is a round open pommel with a golden dragon inside. Included is a leather sheath with back strap. Together you and your sword can conquer dragons just like Saint George.

Remarks:

  • It is a photograph taken from a catalogue. Since each blade is unique, you will get a sword that looks close to the one in the picture. The distinctiveness of the blades, however, may cause a minor variation in the handle wood's design
  • .It is suggested that you keep the equipment dry since moisture promotes rust. Please be sure to wash, dry, and lubricate the blade with any necessary lubricant after each usage.
  • The sword knives have already been honed, but you can still sharpen them to meet your needs.
  • If you intend to take the product out of the packaging, be careful when doing so. When using, kindly keep your fingers away from the blades.
