Ducky Crochet Pattern
This little ducky looks just like a rubber ducky bath toy – only it’s not made for real water. I’ve been thinking about and planning this for a while now…and after a lot or trial and error, am very happy with the end result!
The written crochet pattern (in US terms) calls for a 4.00 mm crochet hook, and DK yarn in yellow and orange. Additional materials required are: a pair of safety eyes (I used 8 mm ones), teddy filling/stuffing (I used fibre curl), some black thread, and a sewing needle.
Gauge is not important for this pattern; the finished ducky is approximately 7 cm in height, 7 cm in length (from beak to tail), and 6 cm in width (from wing to wing). However, if using yarns of different weights with matching crochet hooks, the same pattern could be used to make duckies of various sizes.
NB: if concerned about the ‘safety’ of safety eyes (especially if the item will be played with by a baby, toddler, or young child), eyes can be embroidered with black yarn and darning needle.
