In Rewriting History, Clara Fernsby, an ambitious assistant professor, is on the cusp of tenure at a prestigious liberal arts college. Her carefully charted academic career, however, is disrupted when Theodore Harrison, a visiting scholar from her past, arrives for the fall semester. Their reunion stirs up old memories from their time together at a Blue Ridge Mountains summer camp, where they shared a deep connection and a love for history.

A decade ago, Clara ended their relationship abruptly over the phone, choosing her career over love. Now, as they collaborate on a research project and unwind at a local college bar, Clara grapples with resurfacing feelings and the realization that Theodore, once her best friend, has become a compelling stranger. Despite her fears of repeating past mistakes, Clara is drawn to the possibility of rekindling their romance.

As autumn leaves fall, Clara must confront her fears and reconsider what she truly values.
