Resin wine bottle stopper with embedded Australian camphour laurel bark
Quantity
Resin wine stopper handmade with geometric design and embedded camphour laurel bark. The Camphour laurel was introduced into Australia from Asia in 1822. It has been planted as a garden ornamental throughout Queensland and the timber has an amazingly beautiful smell, it is divine to work with. The Camphour laurel is an attractive shade tree, but can be very destructive as it aggressively replaces native vegetation.
I collected the camphour bark over a period of time from camphour slabs I was working on, and sealed the bark in resin before using it in the stopper, this reduces the amount of bubbles the bark gives off once in resin.
Stainless steel and rubber stopper fits standard wine bottles.
Comes in a beautiful presentation/gift box.
