About this item

This icon depicts Saint Paraskeva who was the daughter of the Iconic Christians, who especially honored the day of the suffering of our Lord Jesus Christ - Friday. Therefore, when God, on the same day, gave them a daughter, they also called her Friday (Paraskeva - in Greek). The central image of this icon repeats the traditional solemn image of the saint, dressed in a cinnabar maforium, “stained with the blood of martyrdom”, and a white headdress thrown over a cloak, testifying to the vow of celibacy of an innocent virgin, the bride of Christ. Demonstrating a scroll with the text of the Creed, Paraskeva acts as a passionate defender of Christianity. The words of this prayer can be read on a scroll held in her left hand by the Great Martyr Paraskeva, called Friday. With her right hand, the saint presses the cross to her chest. Her slender maiden figure is covered by a scarlet robe, and her head is covered with a white veil that falls over her shoulders. She often appears next to the Holy Fathers of the early Church, Saints Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, John Chrysostom, or the Great Martyrs Barbara, Catherine, Anastasia.

This image features vibrant colors in the traditional Eastern Orthodox style and gold foil accents for a beautiful presentation of an icon revered for centuries in Russia and the Eastern Orthodox Church. This decoupaged Icon is made in high-quality polygraphic with double layers of metallographic printing. It is pasted to the wood plate base.
