this bird was sent by the Most Holy Theotokos to the honest Prince Lazarus for a place equal to the golden "book" under the wings. That "book" contained a great mystery that Lazarus could not comprehend before the Battle on the Kosovo field: which Kingdom should be chosen – Heavenly or earthly?
She who gave birth to Christ in Bethlehem, who knows all the Mysteries of the earth and heaven, wrote to the prince: After all, the earthly kingdom is for a small one./And the Heavenly One will be forever and ever. Therefore, Prince Lazar with nine Yugovichi, the tenth old man Yug-Bogdan and with his army chose the Heavenly Kingdom.
They all shed blood on the Kosovo field. And on their blood grew red Kosovo peonies – "bozhuri", which grow and bloom to this day.
