Nevyarovich V.K. Therapy of the soul. Patristic psychotherapy
The book by V.K.Nevyarovich introduces the modern reader to the basic rules, ideas and reflections of the Fathers of the Church about the life that can be called normal and proper, as opposed to abnormal and sinful. Now there is a lot of religious literature, including patristic. But it is either complex and voluminous texts, or, on the contrary, it boils down to quoting brief teachings. The author managed to combine explanations of complex texts with vivid aphorisms.
At the same time, the book cannot be considered as a thematic collection of texts and sayings. On each page, the author's presence is felt — involvement in the ideas of the ascetics, his own attitude to modern events, attempts to highlight the most important issues, the desire to enrich official psychiatry, etc. Especially interesting are the chapters on the taming of passions, on the meaning of prayer, as well as the arguments given in Part 2 about spirituality, vanity, profanity.
