A fabulous icon of Holy Martyr Victoria of Kordub.
The Holy Martyr Victoria of Corduba (Cordova) is the heavenly patroness for girls and women named Victoria. Until 2011, there was no name Victoria in the holy shrines of the Russian Orthodox Church, and girls named by this name were given other names at baptism that were similar in sound.
Many women in Antiquity, who lived in the Roman Republic and later Empire, were named Victoria. The name proceeds from the Latin verb víncere (to defeat) and resembles victus (one who is defeated). It means then to be triumphant, to defeat. Victoria was the name of a popular Roman goddess.
This image features vibrant colors in the traditional Eastern Orthodox style and gold foil accents for a beautiful presentation of an icon revered for centuries in Russia and the Eastern Orthodox Church. This decoupaged Icon is made in high-quality polygraphic with double layers of metallographic printing. It is pasted to the wood plate base.
