About this item
This book feels like it was written by chatGTP but with not enough input to even make it passable. It is boringly predictable plot line that feels like it was put in just to distinguish between equally predictable $%# scenes. Think bad p%rn. The absurdity of it kept me from enjoying even the spicy parts. It’s also ridiculous in its most basic premises: the 21 year olds speak and have %#! like they’re not barely out of adolescence, everyone is simultaneously “poor” but also loaded enough to party in WEHO, there’s fantasy D1 college hockey on the west coast (false), none of the actual adults (sorry but 21 year-olds are basically toddlers - you know it, I know it, live with it) bother to ever actually adult (her coach doesn’t intervene when she’s anorexic, his coach doesn’t intervene when he’s framed, her parents who care about her so much are just absent). In reality, top tier college athletes are basically spoonfed. Like the people who manage them actually worry about them being able to do anything for themselves after they graduate. A little bit of research and the author could have gleaned that. If this were a movie it would be 40 year olds with dyed hair playing the leads and the coaches would be their same age. It’s just so bad. Save your time and buy better - there is so much better in this genre.
