The Scarab beetle handmade necklace pendant is a symbol of spring, the eternal youth of the soul that lives beyond space and time, life and death.
A beetle from the Lamellicornus family, the scarab works through a shapeless, soft mass of dung, persistently and tenaciously rolling it in front of itself until it turns into a perfect sphere. Having laid eggs in a pus ball, the scarab rolls it from east to west and, having dug a burrow, hides it for 28 days. On the 29th day, the beetle digs up a ball, throws it into the water, and small scarabs emerge from it. It was believed that the little beetle retraces the path of the resurrecting Sun, returning from the world of shadows. He is born and resurrected from dung, his own world of shadows and destruction. The ball of the scarab, which contains the family of new life, was compared to the Sun - a fiery sphere that carries the germ of all living things.
The scarab symbol had another reading in Ancient Egypt. This little bug became the embodiment of a philosopher on his way to wisdom. Just as a scarab relentlessly and persistently transforms a formless, viscous mass of dung into a ball in order to plant the seed of life in it, a philosopher walking the path of wisdom must transform the formless and viscous mass of his shortcomings and limitations into an ideal, a perfect, fiery and transparent sphere that reflects the light of the Spirit. The winged scarab, holding a ball of fire in its paws, becomes a symbol of the new, young Sun of spring, rising, defeating darkness and rising to bring a new impulse of life and renewal. His wings symbolize two eyes - the night eye, which sees in the dark, associated with the Moon, and the daytime eye, which gives life to all living things, associated with the Sun. On his back is the famous may symbol, in the center of which is the point where Heaven and Earth meet. Having fulfilled its mission on earth, the scarab-Sun straightens its wings and flies away to endless distances, returning to the sky, to the origins that gave birth to it.The cult of the sacred scarab was so widespread in ancient Egypt that seals, amulets, magical objects and jewelry were made in the shape of the beetle, it was depicted on papyri, tomb frescoes. A column surmounted by a stone scarab has been preserved in the Karnak temple complex near Luxor. The Egyptian god Khepri was depicted with a head in the form of a scarab. The symbolic meaning of the scarab beetle is also reflected in its scientific name: Scarabaeus sacer, where the species name sacer translated from Latin means holy, sacred. Hence the Ukrainian tracing name of the species.
