When I was 16 I noticed an ad in the NY Times that said, "Earn While You Sleep". That's all I had to see and I was off to the races buying 1, yes one penny bubble gum machine and asked the owner of the local hobby shop if I can place the machine in his store. To my amazement he said "Yes". I stayed outside his store all day to see if anyone would put a penny in my gumball machine. At the end of the day I opened the machine and there was over a 100 pennies. I was so excited. Twenty years later I had over 10,000 machines scattered all over New York City, New Jersey & Connecticut. I then moved to California and duplicated what I had in New York. I've enjoyed every minute of it having customers from all over the world, every ethnicity, every race and many became close friends of mine. When the Internet came along I had the idea that people could buy gumball machines from a web site and they did.
