About this item
The cute Bronze colt necklace pendant was made in Ukraine.
Handmade ukraine womens bronze jewelry come from the typical Slavic temple jewellery, which were hung from the headdress on a ribbon or metal links - abundant. The dialect name of the earrings comes from the word kolta - "gulps".
Colts were especially common in the 11th and 13th centuries among the wealthy urban population of ancient Ukraine. The art of making colts using partitioned enamel, black and granulation, reached perfection in Kyiv and Galicia. The body of the colt was made using the casting technique. They were decorated with openwork patterns - enamel, scanning and filigree. Often, the images on the surface of the colts reproduced pagan motifs or birds, and later, the faces of Christian saints.
The traditional slavic jewelry necklace was made of bronze by casting, engraving and toning, size 24x28 mm. The weight is about 3.5 g.
