Hippopotamus Granny Square Crochet Pattern

This hippopotamus granny square is approximately 20 cm x 20 cm (8.15” x 8.15”), and can be used as a component for crocheted items such as a blanket or cushion cover. The square can be used repeatedly, or with others. This is the thirteenth of my ‘South African animal’ granny squares, so keep your eyes open for more designs coming soon ;-)

It can also be framed framed and hung on a wall, as home décor - ideal in a nursery, or a child’s bedroom.

The pattern (written in US terms) calls for DK yarn in four colours (pink-brown, olive green, very dark brown, and dusty pink), and a 4.00 mm crochet hook is used throughout. In total, the approximate yardage is 47 m (51 yds).

The only additional material required is a darning needle, with which to weave in the ends.
