Melilotus belongs to the melliferous plants of the legume family. An adult plant reaches a height of 90-150 cm and emits a coumarin smell. The stem is straight, branched at the base. This culture is drought-resistant. It grows on almost any soil, with the exception of damp soil. It has a very long flowering period of 40-50 days from mid-June to mid-August, and sometimes more, until late autumn. Sweet clover blooms 7-10 days later than yellow. It is a real find for beekeeping farms.

Nectar productivity is 200-250 kg per hectare, and in fertile southern regions up to 300-400 kg. And under the best conditions, you can collect up to 500 kg of honey. 
This honey plant, unlike others, can secrete nectar in any weather, regardless of humidity and bees can collect almost all day. But most of all, sweet clover gives off nectar during the hottest part of the day. Its nectar is transparent, with a sugar content of up to 45 percent.
