Eleutherococcus senticosus is a medicinal plant used in traditional medicine of the Far East and East Asia and known as an adaptogen, a category of herbal medicines that exert non-specific intersystemic anti-stress effects on the whole human body. It is currently recommended by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) for prescription in the treatment of asthenia symptoms such as fatigue and weakness.
Eleutherococcus has been used for centuries in the traditional medicine of the native peoples of the Far East and East Asia. It is often referred to as Siberian Ginseng for its medicinal properties.
By composition and principle of action on the body, eleutherococcus is close to ginseng. It is a natural adaptogen.

Contraindications
Siberian ginseng is generally considered safe when used as directed. However, people with high blood pressure, sleep apnea, narcolepsy, heart disease, mental illness such as mania or schizophrenia, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, children age under 12 years , and people with autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis or Crohn disease, should not take Siberian ginseng.
Women who have a history of estrogen-sensitive cancers or uterine fibroids should ask their provider before taking Siberian ginseng because it may act like estrogen in the body.
