Special supplement (vol. 1) to the Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics. Edited by R. L. F. Boyd and M. J. Seaton University College, London. In consultation with H. S. W. Massey, F. R. S. Russian edition 1957. Translation from English by V. Morozov. The book was printed in 1957 in Moscow publishing house of foreign literature. Hardcover, Size 268 X 180 mm. 416 pages. Seller Notes: “Good condition. No missing pages. See foto.” The book sets out methods for studying the upper atmosphere using rockets and the results obtained by these methods. A number of articles are devoted to the study of the parameters of the upper atmosphere (pressure, temperature, winds, composition). One of the sections of the book is devoted to the study of the ionosphere (radio wave propagation and ionization), ultraviolet and X-ray radiation of the Sun and geomagnetic variations. The last section of the book is devoted to some theoretical considerations in geophysics and proposed experiments for studying the atmosphere using an artificial satellite. The book describes the use in the United States of captured German V-2 rockets for studies of the upper atmosphere. Shipment:
