About this item

A Fabulous icon - Saint Margarita the Virgin Martyr.

Saint Margarita was one of the forty ascetics and students of Deacon Ammoun with origin from Adrianople, Thrace. At that time, in 305 AD, the Roman emperor Licinius had issued a decree to exterminate the Christians who refused to worship idols. The Saint lived and martyred in this terrible time together with her sisters and their teacher Ammun. These women did not succumb to the challenges of the tyrant Licinius and as as a result they was tortured horrifically.

The Orthodox Christian Church commemorates her on September 1 of each year.

This icon is a high-resolution lithography print on hardboard, embellished with light-reflecting gold and silve foil.
