     Saint Nicholas or Nicholas (270 /286/ - 19 (6th century) December 326 /345, 351/) was the bishop of Myra (Lycia, modern Demre, Antalya, Turkey), a Christian saint known as Nicholas the Wonderworker.

     Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Greek Catholic Christians remember and honor him as a historical figure and a great saint.

     St. Nicholas is counted among the saints: as such, he takes care of soldiers, drivers and travelers, helps the poor in need;  is considered the patron saint of children and students, sailors, merchants and archers.  He is recognized as the patron of the cities of Amsterdam (Netherlands), Bari (Italy), Barranquilla (Colombia).
