"Ray of Microcosm" (Serbian: Lucha mikrokozma) is a romantic, cosmically religious poem written in 1845 by Prince-Bishop and poet Peter II Petrovich-Negosh. It is written in the ten-syllable meter of Serbian epic poetry. Negosh's religious poetic thought reached the highest artistic form in this work.
The poem consists of three main thematic parts. The first is the Dedication, which introduces some of the most important philosophical and religious premises of the poem. The second part consists of two songs, which describe the cosmic flight of the poet's soul and the search for answers about the origin and fate of mankind on Earth. The third part includes the remaining four songs, which describe the rebellion of Satan against God and the fall of Adam and his legion from Heaven
The book is the first to publish a Russian translation of the poem "Ray of Microcosm", written by the great Serbian poet and Montenegrin Bishop Peter II Petrovich Negosh (1813-1851). The poem fully manifested the high poetic and philosophical talent of the author, found a deep artistic expression of his views on the universe and on human nature.
The book is provided with a brief chronicle of the life and achievements of the Montenegrin Metropolitan and Ruler Peter II, which includes little-known information to the Russian reader and his literature, state and diplomatic activities. Attached is a chapter from the work of St. Nicholas of Serbia "The Religion of Negosh".
