About this item

It is a variety of tobacco with a high nicotine content, which is compensated for by its specific organoleptic quality.
Havana comes from a variety of tobacco bred in 1907, known as Habanensis. It is a typical Tabaco Negro Cubano (black Cuban tobacco), a direct descendant of plants discovered by Columbus in Cuba over five hundred years ago.The shrubs are 160-180 centimeters tall, with leaves up to half a meter long. The leaves are dark, fleshy and resinous.
According to the technology, mature leaves are seasoned in the sun for a couple of days and then dried in a humid, warm and necessarily dark place, a cellar or a shed with an earthen floor will do, but not a stuffy attic. The leaves of the uppermost tier "ligeros" are dried with part of the stem.Havana is very demanding to the soil, on infertile soil the plant will be squishy and will not show all its advantages.
This tobacco is great for pipes and rolls, you can chew it, but its main purpose - cigars.
When you make them yourself, which is quite possible, you should not forget about such an important detail as the cover sheet. In industrial production there are even separate varieties for this, but Havana is universal and suitable for making all elements of cigars. For the filler it should be grown in full sun, but for the top sheet it is sufficient to plant a few plants in the shade and provide plenty of watering. The leaf will turn out large, thin and supple. Also when making cigars one should not forget about glue and prepare in advance resin from fruit (not coniferous!) trees.
The excessive strength and harshness of Havana can be reduced by a long fermentation, the end of which is determined by the dark brown color of the leaves with a reddish hue. Well, to make homemade cigars no different from the real Cuban cigars, they should be kept for about a year in the humidor before smoking. Like cognac, cigars only get better with age.Traditional Cuban seating pattern: 90x25 centimeters.
