What did the clouds teach me? A short story about dreamy wall decor by nuee. Hi! My name's Emilia, and I am the owner of nuee brand. I'd love to tell you a short story about how my shop was built. In 2019 I graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, Poland, and I became an interior designer. I worked mostly on residential projects and during my work I often lamented the fact that finding an interesting mirror that would increase the value of the project was almost a miracle. I believed that limiting the properties of a mirror to reflect the surrounding reality is underestimating its potential. Its form can be extremely interesting! In order to counter this situation, I founded nuee - an artistic mirrors studio. The name comes from the French nuée, which means "a cloud". It is a reflection of the impression of fleetingness that I try to convey in my projects. My inspirations are just as fleeting as the elusive collection of water drops. A shadow on the wall, spilled coffee or a withered leaf - these are the things that we usually don't notice, but thanks to which my new projects are created. The materials that I use are glass mirrors, plywood, copper and fabrics. The process of creating a mirror involves several stages. The first part is drawing many sketches and picking the best ones. When the design is ready, its components are transferred to paper to form the templates, and these in turn - to glass and plywood. Then they are cut, sanded, painted, the edges of the mirror are being finished with copper tape, and the back with fabric. Pendants are also attached. Everything is done by hand. The whole process of making a mirror is quite laborious and time-consuming - I have to be very careful and take my time. One false move and the mirror breaks! The process of paint drying takes about 24 hours, the same goes for the glue, so it takes a few days to create one piece. Some of my projects are designed to engage your imagination. They consist of several elements (ex.: wiwi, zozo, bebe) that can be freely arranged. Each of them has two hangers in different places, which allows you to hang it in different positions. Firstly, it allows the entire composition to be adapted to the place you have at our disposal, and secondly, it is a creative play with forms, allowing you to add something truly yours to the product and adjust it to your needs. They will fit perfectly in boho, japandi and contemporary and eclectic interior. I am constantly expanding my offer, systematically pouring new ideas into glass. We have a stormy season right now - who knows what the clouds will bring?
