2021 International Plumbing Code
2021 International Plumbing Code
The 2021 IPC includes minimum requirements for HVAC equipment and the approval of new and innovative products, materials, and systems. In October 2019, the Code Council published an independent study comparing model fountain codes. It found that over 12 years, districts using IPC saved $38 billion in construction costs, emitted 1,000,000 tons less carbon dioxide, added 166,000 jobs, and saved 880 million feet of pipe. On average, a single-family home can save up to $4,000 in labor, material, and overhead costs compared to the same home built to other codes. Important changes in the 2021 IPC include: Multi-user toilets, suitable for all genders, are now allowed. Addition of two new methods for relining/rehabilitating existing sewers. Spaces for roof-mounted solar panels were added above the vent plugs. CSA B805/ICC 805 rainwater harvesting systems are permitted as an alternative design method. The HVAC regulations of the ICC A117.1-2017 standard for usable and accessible buildings and spaces have now been added.
