Description
The fruits are apple-shaped, spherical to ellipsoidal in shape, hard wrinkled, 6-14 mm long, 5-11 mm wide, with an annular rim formed by shrunken sepals on top. There are 1-5 woody bones in the pulp of the fruit. The surface of the bones is pitted-wrinkled or furrowed along the back. The color of the fruit ranges from yellow-orange and brownish-red to dark brown or black, sometimes with a whitish coating of crystallized sugar. There is no smell. The taste of water extraction is sweet.

A decoction of hawthorn fruits has a cardiotonic, antispasmodic and moderate sedative effect.
Indications
A decoction of hawthorn fruits is used in the complex therapy of functional disorders of cardiovascular activity (cardialgia).
Contraindications
Individual intolerance to the drug.
Method of administration and dosage
About 15 g (1 tablespoon) of hawthorn fruit is placed in an enameled dish, 200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water is poured, covered with a lid and insisted on a boiling water bath for 30 minutes, cooled at room temperature for 10 minutes, filtered, the remaining raw materials are squeezed out. The volume of the resulting broth is brought to 200 ml with boiled water .
Take inside 1/2-1/3 cup 2-3 times a day 30 minutes before meals. The course of treatment is 20-30 days.
It is recommended to shake the broth before use.
