The creation of the Damascus steel in this knife involves a meticulous process. It’s not merely an acid etch; it’s a fusion of 1095 high carbon steel and 15N20 nickel carbon. These two materials are heated together and folded repeatedly to produce 384 distinctive layers. Subsequently, the blade is exposed to acid, causing the nickel layers to take on a satin finish while the high carbon layers adopt a dark gray hue. This acid exposure reveals the intricate layers that make up the beautiful Damascus pattern.
After the knife is crafted, the handles are highly polished, which removes the acid-burned layer, resulting in a satin-like finish. The blade is also expertly sharpened, with the acid-burned edge taking on a satin appearance.
Additionally, this knife comes with a high-quality cowhide leather sheath as depicted in the photos.
