About this item

Redeemer from all troubles icon. Icon of the mother of God deliverer from troubles.

Referred to as "The Redeemer", written in the middle of the 17th century. The first owner of the image, Hieromonk Constantius, handed over the shrine in 1822 to one of his students, who was going to Athos.

Having settled in the monastery of the great martyr, the monk Macarius carried the image with him everywhere. Staying in the village of Marovuni, the monk, thanks to the help of the Mother of God and his prayers before Her image, was able to help the locals get rid of the locust attack. During prayer, flocks of birds destroyed insects that threatened the crop.

After this story, the fame of the monk spread among the inhabitants of the village and the surrounding area. Not rejoicing at such glory, Macarius wanted to hide from the people who came for healing, but the Mother of God appeared to him, commanding him to serve the people and not to hide the miraculous icon.
