Solomon, King of Israel (S.X a.c.), was the second son of Urias’ wife, Bathsheba, whom his father, David, had taken as his wife.
He ruled in Israel between 970 and 931 BC and was known and respected for being a wise, just, and powerful king.
He raised the Israelite monarchy to the greatest degree of prosperity, built the temple in Jerusalem, walled this city, and cultivated the arts and sciences.
“It tells the story of a trial in which two women disputed the motherhood of a baby and King Solomon, to find out which of them was the real one, handed over his sword to a soldier and ordered him to leave in two to the creature , to give half to each. The authentic mother then pleaded with the king not to kill the child and to hand it over to the other woman.
With this trial Solomon immediately discovers which of the two lied, showing his wisdom and justice.”
