Viktor Nikolaevich Deni (real name - Denisov; (February 24 (March 8), 1893, Moscow - August 3, 1946, Moscow) - Russian and Soviet graphic artist, cartoonist, one of the founders of the Soviet political poster. Honored Artist of the USSR.(1932 )
 
The milestone works of Deni's work were created during the First World War - caricatures of political figures: Kaiser Wilhelm, Sultan Mohammed, Emperor Franz Joseph, etc., made using "images-masks" and "personifications" - images of heroes and plots of cartoons are plastic represent the essence of relations between countries.
 
After the February Revolution, the former rulers of the country and figures close to the imperial court - Nicholas II, Alexandra Feodorovna, the elder Grigory Rasputin, Chairman of the Council of Ministers I. L. Goremykin, as well as the ministers of the Provisional Government. Drawings are often accompanied by texts to enhance the "political sound". Deni' creative intonation changes from humor to satire.
 
During the Great Patriotic War, the main theme of Deni was the denunciation of fascism and the call for retribution. In 1943-1945, the theme of a premonition of victory appears in the posters, the mean color scheme of the works of the beginning of the war changes to multi-color.
