The greatest Serb of the twentieth century, St. Nicholas of Serbia (Velimirovich, 1880-1956) is certainly the brightest and most ambitious personality in the recent history of the Balkans. Long before his official canonization (May 2008), prayerfully revered throughout the Orthodox world, he was granted the most precious gifts of the Holy Spirit from the Lord during his earthly life.
Much is said about God's help to modern man in the work of St. Nicholas of Serbia. "God is with us!" the Saint exclaims, addressing Orthodox Christians, who are constrained from all sides by the machinations of the devil and the malice of the Christ-haters.
What should we be afraid of? Are we not hourly, every minute witnesses of the inexplicable mystery and the ineffable mercy of God? And only blind eyes and stagnant hearts do not see and do not feel this.
The book is dedicated to the "Serbian Chrysostom" — the great preacher, theologian, Bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church Nikolai Velimirovich. His creations are well known and loved in Russia. Simple and artless in form, the instructions of the Saint conquer the hearts of people with sincerity, vivid imagery of speech, the power of persuasion in the need to change their lives with the help of the grace of God. The book contains the biography of St. Nicholas, selected sermons, teachings, parables, as well as photographs of the saint in different periods of his life.
