The kidneys are elongated-conical, pointed or blunted, often sticky.
The color of the buds is brown, at the base sometimes a greenish balsamic smell, pleasant. The taste of water extraction is slightly astringent, resinous.

Pharmacodynamics
Birch buds contain essential oil, the main components of which are betulin, betulinic acid, caryophyllene; resins, tannins, flavonoids, saponins, macro- and microelements and other biologically active substances.
It has a diuretic, as well as some anti-inflammatory effect.
Indications
Edema of cardiac or renal origin of mild to moderate severity.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug, chronic renal failure, acute glomerulonephritis, pregnancy, lactation, childhood (up to 12 years).
Method of administration and dosage
About 10 g (1 tablespoon) of birch buds are placed in an enameled dish, 200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water is poured, covered with a lid and insisted on a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, cooled at room temperature for 45 minutes, filtered, the remaining raw materials are squeezed out. The volume of the resulting infusion is brought to 200 ml with boiled water .
Take 1-2 tablespoons orally 3 times a day before meals.
It is recommended to shake the infusion before use.
Side effects
With prolonged use, birch kidney preparations have an irritating effect on the renal tissue. Allergic reactions are possible.
