HISTORICAL REFERENCE:

Swedish field artillery, as a branch of the army, was created during the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) by the great military reformer, King Gustav II Adolf. Following the Dutch model, he introduced the unification of the calibers of the guns.

Also, Gustav II Adolf created regimental artillery, which was supposed to operate in the combat formations of the infantry.

The reforms have yielded excellent results.
